Finding the right esthetician can be tricky, but it’s essential in order to have great skin rather than unhealthy skin. Here are several tips to help you choose a good esthetician and avoid the bad ones.
Always check for the cleanliness of the space you’re in, the tools being used, and of the esthetician themselves. Look for proper sanitation and sanitizing methods, and whether the overall spa is clean or dirty. While scanning for cleanliness, also look for your esthetician’s license or certification and that it’s up to date. Their knowledge should also be current, and they should share it with you.
Your esthetician should care about you and your skin. They should be asking you questions about your skin and skin care routines, and readily answer any questions you may have. If they don’t, they might not be qualified, or able to cater to you. Speaking of catering to you, just as everyone is unique, so is your facial treatment. You must not settle for a standard facial.
Finally, never accept pain as part of your facial. Though it may feel like a pain to be beautiful, it doesn’t mean you should actually feel it. A facial should be a relaxing experience. If your esthetician hurts you or you leave the spa with red, blotchy, or irritated skin, it’s time to find a new esthetician immediately.
